THE EXPERIENCE
Discover The Flying Saucer
The Flying Saucer is a restored 1970s building now used by Sharjah Art Foundation for culture and community activity. Its circular form and angled supports deserve an exterior view, while the lower-level spaces reveal how a familiar landmark has been adapted. It suits visitors interested in buildings that change purpose rather than only newly built cultural icons.
Programmes include exhibitions, screenings, workshops and readings; check the foundation's calendar before choosing a date. The art library gives a quieter reason to stay, with Arabic and English publications on art and related subjects. Special events may have separate arrangements from ordinary venue access. Use the Dasman location when grouping stops, rather than assuming all foundation spaces sit in the heritage district.
Compare the original circular structure with the newer spaces below ground. The interest lies in how restoration preserves a familiar silhouette while changing the way people use the building. An exhibition visit and time in the library can reveal that adaptation more clearly than viewing the dome from a passing car.
