House of Wisdom

House of Wisdom is a working library and cultural hub, with books, exhibitions and discussion spaces supporting everyday learning. The building's large roof and adjustable screens respond to sun and shade; outside, Gerry Judah's The Scroll provides another perspective on Sharjah's focus on reading and publishing. Its purpose extends beyond an architectural photograph.

Choose a reason to stay: browse a subject, attend an announced event or bring children for an appropriate programme. Specialist facilities such as the fabrication lab and print-on-demand services have their own arrangements, so check before assuming casual use. The library is near University City on the airport road, rather than in the Heart of Sharjah; group your cultural stops around that geography.
