THE EXPERIENCE
Discover Snoopy Island
Snoopy Island is the distinctive rocky outcrop off Al Aqah, seen from the shoreline around Sandy Beach. A visit can be about that coastal view or an organised outing in the surrounding water; those are different experiences, and neither should be chosen only from an underwater photograph.
Sandy Beach's current operator website identifies snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding and a dive and water-sports centre. It also offers several day-pass products. Confirm what your chosen pass includes rather than assuming that beach entry provides every item of equipment or supervised activity.
For anyone entering the water, discuss experience, swimming ability, the planned route and current conditions with the operator. Snorkelling near an offshore landmark requires a different decision from simply spending time on the beach. Non-swimmers can enjoy the island's profile and coastal scenery without following others offshore.
The underwater setting is the attraction, but visibility and animal encounters vary. Keep clear of coral and wildlife, avoid standing on the reef and do not collect shells or other souvenirs from the habitat. An outing should not depend on a guaranteed turtle or particular fish sighting.
Check how you will reach the actual entrance and return after the activity. Resort facilities and privately managed beach areas need their own access arrangement. If your group wants different things, agree on the booked activity and meeting point first, then leave shore time flexible. The island can be appreciated without trying to climb its rocks or improvise an unapproved landing.
