THE EXPERIENCE
Discover Al Murabbaa Watchtower
Al Murabbaa Watchtower is a compact historical landmark along Ajman's Corniche. The sandy-coloured structure gives a waterfront walk a point of historical focus, especially for visitors comparing the older city's defensive buildings with its modern beachside development.
Ajman Tourism dates the tower to the 1930s, says it was commissioned by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and records a restoration in 2000. Those dates help distinguish this relatively recent coastal watchtower from much older archaeological sites elsewhere in the UAE. Its purpose is best understood through its position facing the shore rather than by the size of the building.
Treat it as an architectural stop within a wider Corniche outing. Look at the tower's outline and its relationship to the seafront, then continue your walk or meal plan. An exterior view does not establish that the inside is open or that there is a staffed exhibition, staircase access or bookable guided tour.
The tourism authority locates it opposite Corniche Tower. Use that landmark to check your arrival point, while following present-day pedestrian crossings and parking signs. If history is your main interest, add Ajman Museum for collections and interpretation rather than expecting the watchtower alone to fill an afternoon. For photographs, compose the building with the waterfront from a lawful public position and avoid stepping into traffic for a wider angle.
